Stress: The Causes & Our Response

I shifted my thinking from "causes of stress" to "responses to unwanted situations". There are many lists of stressors (stress causers) one can confront at any given moment.

You, like me, may have always accepted that some people just get stressed out more than others and that's just the way it is. Instead of continuing to hand the power over to mere circumstances, I learned how to deal with stress and greatly reduce its place in my life.

I take it a step further and give more tips for reducing stress based on my own struggles and how I handle certain stressful situations.

Stress & Genetics

I struggled with stress, frustration, and depression for as long as I can remember. So did much of my family.

When I was a teenager, I seriously questioned whether or not I was doomed to a life of overwhelming stress. The picture I imagined was of me at 40 years old; hopeless, taking a handful of depression medications, and never being able to grasp a solution.

After feeling powerless over stress for the first two dozen years of my life, I finally was able to grasp the understanding of how to deal with stress by controlling my response to it. I always just reacted to stressful situations in the easiest way possible - which was to give in to my passionate emotions.
