Simple Truths
Living by simple truths can chart a fulfilling and intriguing course through your life. There is great power in understanding and applying to your life something as simple as a solitary sentence packed full of wisdom and truth.
Patience is a virtue
Good things come to those who wait.
Chasing the wind
Better one handful with tranquility, than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.
Taming the tongue
The tongue is a small spark that sets a great forest on fire. It's better to give than to receive The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous shows mercy and gives. (Psalm 37:21) Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, 'Go, and come back, and tomorrow I will give it.' When you have it with you. (Proverbs 3:27-28)
Owe no man anything - Live debt free
Owe no man anything but to love one another...
Don't judge other people by their actions, and judge yourself by your intentions. That means that you and the other person can do the same bad thing, but because you know how you think and feel about it, you excuse, show mercy to, and may even encourage yourself with "it's okay. I'll do better next time". On the other hand, you assume the other person meant it in the worst way because that's what it "looked" like to you. Only, you don't realize that you looked the same way to other people. You made the same mistake, but you deserve mercy and they don't. I believe simple truths like these are in some way important to people on the journey to simplicity and meaning. Once you understand some key truths you are set to make many wise decisions.
