My Motivations for
Simple Christian Living

  • Having clear thinking, self-government (being governed inwardly by God's Spirit), and freedom from ungodly burdens
  • Severing the ties between our hearts and the perishable things of this world
  • Living with a separate mindset and habits from the mainstream in the ways that the Lord reveals to our family
  • To simply follow the Lord Jesus Christ come what may
That doesn't mean we withdraw from living and anything that we might enjoy, but we are determined to live in a way that reflects God's heart and is guided by Him.

The cool creek that runs through my life is my relationship with God and the power of His Spirit. My life's work is doing the Lord's will and heeding His instructions. My family's daily assignments are just a means to an end. They hold significance, but should not hold our hearts.

What's life about? We work to live or we live to work. At the end of the day, what did we work for and what's the point? What are you working so hard to gain? The world and its treasures? Your life's work is more than merely your career, it's what you live for.

Our toiling does not come without reward. If we boast and revel in the world's temporal gains, we have just received our paltry reward. But, if we glory in, suffer for, and live for the God of wonders, we will receive a much greater reward.

We have some deep desires in our hearts of what we naturally prefer and want in life, but we are willing to give them all up and resist pursuing them over the Lord because we love Him more.
