Normal Blood Pressure
A normal blood pressure reading is less than 120/80. The top number is your systolic pressure (pressure exerted during heart beat) and the bottom number is your diastolic pressure (pressure exerted between heart beats). The bottom or diastolic number is the most important of the two. If your blood pressure is really high even while your heart is at rest compared to when it beats, that's bad. An easy way to remember which is which is that the first part of the word "diastolic" (pressure between heart beats/while your heart is at rest) sounds like "die" which is what happens when your heart is at rest or stops beating for good.
