Little House on the Prairie

From Interest To Passion

Unlike many Little House on the Prairie fans, I don't have any special memories of the show or books from my childhood.

My love and passion for Little House began when I was pregnant with my daughter (2004).

I had been watching it on a fuzzy channel every week when I could. As we neared Christmas, my husband asked me if there was anything that I wanted.

I told him I enjoy watching Little House and I would really like to have a season on DVD. I wasn't even sure it was available, I just knew I wanted more Little House.

That Christmas, I received the fifth season. Not only could I watch it whenever I wanted now, but the picture was nice and clear!

New Family Tradition

We immediately created a new daily tradition of watching Little House on the Prairie each evening. I was about six months pregnant then and my husband and I dreamed about the day that our daughter would join us on our Little House adventures...

Over the next year or so, we purchased the rest of the seasons on DVD. A couple of years later, I became aware of the pilot and the last three made-for-TV movies to bring a more complete end to Little House. And, what a moving end that was!

I am now a die-hard fan of Little House. It has been my main inspiration and road-map for living a simple life. I now have a soft spot and passion for the 1800's and early 1900's.

I understand why Little House was so popular and lasted so long on television. The acting and directing is excellent, the episodes are moving and portray real life. And, many deep and serious issues are covered.

It actually teaches lessons you can learn from - all in the form of entertainment. It has encouraged and guided me as a mother and wife and lead me to embrace voluntary simplicity.

Laura Ingalls Wilder

Laura Ingalls Wilder is the beloved author of the Little House books and inspiration for the television series Little House on the Prairie, which ran on TV for an astounding nine seasons (1974-1983).

Michael Landon

Michael Landon was the much loved actor who starred as Charles Ingalls in Little House and other roles in other television series, movies, and shows.

Michael made Little House the success that it was. His high standards and natural talent was obvious as he excelled in his acting, writing, directing, and producing career.
