About Me
Hi, I'm so glad you stopped in. My name is Jennifer, I'm 27 and I live in Texas with my husband of 10 years and 5-year-old daughter. My story begins in Texas. I grew up in the country climbing trees, swimming and fishing in tanks, and wading in run-off streams, swollen from excessive rains, to collect tad poles in a bucket. Before I turned two years old, I was bitten twice by a copperhead (really bad snake). At 11, I flipped over an ATV (it was larger than a golf cart with one long seat across the front and a trailer in the back). I was usually an excellent driver, but I misjudged a sharp turn on gravel in an attempt to pull off a daring maneuver. Boy, was I seeing stars, literally. Since
my dad’s business
was repairing small engines, I drove go-carts at the same time I learned to ride a bike. In 1999, when my husband and I were dating, we got into a bad truck accident. The truck flipped side over side, but we weren’t hurt badly. I just went to the hospital as a precaution and wore a neck brace. I believe we could have been killed or seriously hurt if we had not been wearing our seat belts! Though I was an excellent student,
I didn’t care for school (public school).
I graduated one year early with honors and at 17 years old (2000), with the blessing of my parents, got married.
Getting married young
was very natural for me.
This took me to Idaho which is all the way across the country from Texas. My husband was in the military. I really enjoyed living there as you will read much about on this website. My Testimony of Christ Early in our marriage, I began to seek the Lord like never before. I knew I needed Him in my life. Not just as a "feel-good" addition, but as Savior of my soul, Healer of my heart, and Lord over all. Over the first year and a half of marriage, I grew in faith. My husband was turning to the Lord as well. We had both known about God growing up and as teenagers made a mostly emotional decision to receive Christ, but we were really living for ourselves. Right after 9/11/2001, my husband deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. That experience brought us closer to each other and propelled our relationship and journey with God. My husband met a fellow Airman there who invited him to go to the church service. That Airman was also from our home-base in Idaho. But, they hadn't met until they got there. :) The Airman told my husband about his church in Mountain Home, Idaho (near the Base). It is a non-denominational, multi-ethnic, Spirit-filled church that is grounded in the Word and teaches and preaches the full gospel of Jesus Christ including all of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The services were more led by God's Spirit than by a program or bulletin. We decided to attend that church the following Sunday after my husband returned home. Our first impression was that the love of God filled the atmosphere and that church did not have to be dry and passion-less in order to be holy, orderly, and worshipful. We soon found ourselves excited about church, growing in the word and knowledge of Yahweh ('YHWH' The self-existent One), leading, teaching, and building our faith upon a solid foundation. When you repent and turn your life over to God, He doesn't leave you the way you are. You become a new creature in Christ and experience progressive change over time to be more like the image of Christ. Among other things, the Holy Spirit began to purge our lives of the things that do not please and glorify Him. We were led to completely stop drinking alcohol, we broke and threw away cigarettes and worldly movies and music CD's. My clothes got more conservative, our language less offensive, and our hearts more forgiving. We began to live by faith and submission to God; stepping out and doing what we believe God wants us to do even when it takes us out of our comfort zone and we don't understand why. Oh, how He changed us! We are not who we were. To some people, we seem to be almost unrecognizable. After a period of growing and changing, the Lord saw it fit to lead our steps back to Texas. To the place where my husband and I met and where I was born and raised. Time To Move On... So, after five years in Idaho, my husband had completed his six-year term,
we separated from the military, and moved back to Texas to be near family.
At this time (2005), we had our daughter. In 2003, I wrote and published a 224-page book entitled Parakaleo: A Young Woman’s Call to the World. Parakaleo is Greek for “encourage” or “to call to a person to consider a certain way of conduct and living”. Since then, the publisher has gone out of business and I no longer distribute my book in print. However, I do plan to re-work it and make some version of it available again, probably in electronic form. In 2008, my sister and I opened a resale store,
Next Generation Gifts & Resale
south of San Antonio, TX. We've transitioned from the store into hosting monthly indoor/outdoor yard sales for the community and surrounding areas.
